Hemorrhoid Symptoms

Symptoms of Hemorrhoids:

There are two different types of hemorrhoids: internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids.

External

  1. Pain — Sometimes painful, with irritation and swelling. Itching is commonly misdiagnosed as a symptom, but is actually caused by skin irritation.
  2. Skin irritation — This sometimes happens due to inflammation of the external hemorrhoids — this can result in scarce watery discharges which are responsible for the skin irritation.
  3. Thrombosis — External hemorrhoids have a reasonable chance to end up allowing thrombosis to occur. This happens if a blood clot develops.

Symptoms of external hemorrhoids are generally painful swellings and lumps. External hemorrhoids often cause itching, bleeding and pain. Believe it or not, in most cases, it all goes away in just 2 or 3 days. External hemorrhoids are really really painful.

Internal

  1. Bleeding — Internal hemorrhoids appear at a point in the body where there are not any pain receptors. This is a little scary because you may have them and not even know until you notice bleeding.
  2. Prolapsed Hemorrhoid– Because it’s possible that internal hemorrhoids may exist without even being noticed, sometimes during this process because they go without treatment it can lead to a very severe kind of hemorrhoid called a prolapsed hemorrhoid. This is such a severe condition that it actually causes the inner hemorrhoid to be pushed outside of the body.
  3. Strangulated Hemorrhoid — A strangulated hemorrhoid happens if an inner hemorrhoid is being pushed outside the body but becomes stuck on the way out — this causes the blood flow to be cut off, and the hemorrhoid becomes strangulated.

Internal hemorrhoids rarely present with much pain if any at all unless the problem does not resolve itself and they end up in an altered state. Commonly, stool will be covered in bright red blood — this is known as hematochezia.

Now that you know all about hemorrhoid symptoms, you can figure out which hemorrhoid treatment you need. Hopefully you will find out how to get rid of hemorrhoids.
